2021.10.9-10.13 (5 days), Team of 1, Design challenge case study

Challenge Brief:

Based on the latest study from Acme Analytics, where they interviewed 10,000 families with subscriptions of products and services, 75% of them reported being charged for a subscription they forgot to cancel. A quote from a real user “It’s hard to keep track of all the products and services that we have subscribed to every month. All we see is money being deducted from our accounts, sometimes for services that we don’t need anymore.“

Design a web experience (desktop) to help these families manage their subscriptions, including features/use cases around:

1.       Adding or removing service.

2.       Insights into the data with visualizations

3.       Turning the insights into actions.

(These are a few use cases from our end, but please feel free to add more if it helps your solution).

The Outcome:

A web-based user experience named SubMaster.

1. Exploration Research

1.1 Competitive Analysis

I tried a few existing applications dedicated to manage subscriptions including a web application TrackMySubs.com, and two mobile application, Apple's built-in subscription management tool, and Truebill mobile app. I listed their pros and cons as follows
